What job do you do?
All Trousers – digital marketing agency, Marketing Project Manager

How did you get into marketing/communications?
I began working as a Personal Assistant for the Director of an international education agency while I was a student at Cardiff University. Although my role was primarily to support the Director, I was also afforded the opportunity to produce some copywriting work for the marketing team – which I thoroughly enjoyed. When I graduated from university, I was offered a full time position at the company as Marketing Assistant, and my career began from there!

What are you most proud of in your career as a marketing/communications professional?

I am always proud of being able to help businesses achieve their goals through marketing. We often work with organisations that don’t have the resources to effectively market themselves, so being able to step in and help these businesses grow and succeed is something I really value about my work.

How has marketing/communications helped the organisations you’ve worked for?
When it comes to marketing and communications, a clear vision and direction is vital. At All Trousers, we ensure that we work closely as a team to deliver effective and efficient marketing to our clients – it’s one of the benefits of working in a small team! We’re all on the same page, and communication is free flowing.

What challenges have you overcome on your professional journey to where you are today?
It’s only in my recent role as Marketing Project Manager that I’ve truly felt confident enough to voice my opinion. I’ve struggled with self confidence and assurance in the past, but now I believe in myself and the knowledge I have so that I can effectively support and guide the businesses that we work with.

Do you have any words of wisdom for someone starting out in the marketing/communications industry?
My piece of advice would be to learn as much as you possibly can. Ask questions, dig a little deeper, read articles, listen to podcasts – it all helps. There’s so much more to marketing than meets the eye and everything changes so quickly, so it’s important to get a well rounded understanding of all its elements and to keep yourself up to date with trends and changes in the industry.
