Where are you based?
Globally (But I live in London)

What job do you do?
Brand & Marketing Consultant & Coach

How did you get into marketing/communications?
I was a teen mum that was private school educated. I Worked in Sales for 4 years before starting degree in Marketing & Communications at university. I then also completed a postgrad Diploma as well as ongoing training courses.

My first Marketing Manager role was my very first job as a graduate – on the BT Graduate Programme at Manager Level.

What are you most proud of in your career as a marketing/communications professional?
Starting my own business as a young mum – on a budget of less than £100 and years later now holding over 15 awards and being recognised as one of London’s top black business influencers (as endorsed by Natwest in Oct 2018) – that’s a HUGE deal for me. Also, having helped thousands of business owners to think differently about the way they brand and promote their business.

I love what I do.

How has marketing/communications helped the organisations you’ve worked for?
Growing businesses. Changing people’s confidence levels. Helping people to make REAL money

One of my clients said last week that my course helped her to completely rebrand and as a result 2018 has been her best year in business.

– Sustained business growth.
– New collaborations formed.

As a self employed business myself, I’m also someone who has been a connector for many organisations in helping people access partnerships, and also finding projects that are aligned with their business goals.

It’s just amazing to see the small business transformations.

What challenges have you overcome on your professional journey to where you are today?
Naysayers telling me not to launch my business.

Starting on £100 and using my expertise from Marcomms to promote my own brand with no proper processes in place! (Not recommended unless you have patience).

People telling me to get a proper job

I’m a mother of 4 now and the idea of me paying for someone else to look after my children whilst I worked on my business was confusing!

Do you have any words of wisdom for someone starting out in the marketing/communications industry?
Understand your strengths. Be a Team Player and always remember to focus on sectors you enjoy or it may get tedious. Focus on a specific niche if that’s your preference but there’s nothing wrong with being a generalist and get paid what you’re worth. Marketing, when done properly, should yield results. So make sure if you’re able to get results for clients, your pay should reflect that!

Finally, where can we find you online?
