Where are you based?
Essex

What job do you do?
Founder and Director of PR company

How did you get into marketing/communications?
I got into PR by accident! I have always had jobs that have involved a high level of communication – a nurse, various roles within the pharmaceutical industry and recruitment. A friend asked me to help her set up a company and then lost interest in the idea. All the background work piqued my interest and I pursued the challenge!

What are you most proud of in your career as a marketing/communications professional?
When a plan genuinely helps a business increase profit or improve reputation it makes me proud as it shows that the plans work

How has marketing/communications helped the organisations you’ve worked for?
Increased sales, built reputation and successfully managed Crisis management plans – with PR everyone is quick to showcase their coverage but often people don’t have a crisis management plan in place and that can be costly for a business.

What challenges have you overcome on your professional journey to where you are today?
I had to learn a whole industry from scratch whilst in a senior (MD) position. It has meant I have had to be adaptable, forward thinking and agile.

Do you have any words of wisdom for someone starting out in the marketing/communications industry?
Be open minded and treat each company as though it were your own – would spending this money get me a return? Why am I doing this? If you find a blueprint that works use it again and again and most importantly have fun.

Lastly, where can we find you online?
